Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. She joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. Within two years she was hired by NBC News as a Washington reporter. In 1981, she began covering for the White House, and in 1988, she was promoted to chief congressional correspondent. In 1992, she was named the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was a guest in the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell joined the panel in 1988's presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards for journalism excellence, including her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was a reporter at for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. She covered many notable issues, such as the weapons control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended numerous summits in the company of the President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
